Sanitizing and cleaning your Kitchen

Here is a fool-proof guide to keep your kitchen spotless and eliminate the chance of contamination or disease, due to viruses and bacteria.

The coronavirus pandemic has made us all relook at the importance of good hygiene. But, as we wash and sanitize our hands more frequently in an effort to protect ourselves from the virus, it is also a good idea to pay attention to other areas of the house that need deep cleaning and disinfecting, like your kitchen.

When it comes to how often you should clean and sanitize your kitchen, food health experts say that key tools like knives and cutting boards should be cleaned and disinfected with an antibacterial washing-up liquid like Dana, anytime there has been any possibility of contamination, including when you have contaminated your hands in any way. This includes when you have touched a non-food surface like your phone to double-check ingredient quantities or a text, a recipe book or touched your body or face. Food-wise, this also includes when you change ingredients, especially between vegetables and different meats or seafood.

Well, the good thing is Al Sanea Chemical Products has everything you need to keep your kitchen spotless and disinfected so that you and your family are protected.

STEP 1: CLEAN

Even before you start to disinfect and sanitize your kitchen, cleaning is an important first step to get rid of any surface dirt, food or contaminants from the surface. Foodborne-illness causing bacteria can remain on surfaces for a very long time. For example, Campylobacter can survive in your kitchen for up to 4 hours, and Salmonella can last for up to 32 hours, both can be found on raw meats and dairy.

To begin with, you can use warm soapy water to thoroughly wipe down all cooking and prep areas. If you use kitchen towels or sponges for cleaning, ensure you wash them frequently in the hot cycle of your washing machine or hot bucket of water, with a powerful detergent like Sanitex and then give them a rinse with an anti-bacterial disinfectant liquid, like Sanittol. And do not forget to wash your hands with an antibacterial liquid soap like Shatha, to keep them clean and disinfected too.

Although, cleaning with warm, soapy water can physically remove dirt, grime and some bacteria from a surface, but it does NOT kill all bacteria.
